The Waimea Canyon - Kokee State ParkIf scenic hikes are your "meditation" then Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific is the place for you to be. Numerous hiking trails and scenic viewpoints await you as you make your way to some of the most breathtaking vistas in the Hawaiian Islands.  Take the opportunity along your hike to experience some "ornithology" (bird watching) as Kokee and the west side provide some of the most unique birds in the islands. There is also seasonal Trout and Bass fishing in Kokee as well.

Polihale State ParkWest of Hale Puka`Ana are the beaches of Polihale State Park. Be sure to bring your camera and get some postcard-perfect shots of the West end of the magnificent NaPali Coast and the magnificent sunset!

Beachcombing and Shoreline FishingA local past time is to spend the day at the beach shoreline fishing. If you're lucky you might catch a Moi, an Oio or even a Papio. Or maybe you prefer to spend the day sunbathing and/or exploring the beaches. Kekaha is the perfect place to do just that - with miles of white sand beaches. Just don't forget the sunscreen!

The Farmers Market An Island-wide weekly "happening" Kauai's Farmer's Market is held at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center each Saturday at 9 a.m. Be ready to sample and buy some of the island's local produce and tropical flowers.
The West Side Craft Fair Thursday through Sunday local artisans show their wares, accompanied by music and an abundance of local foods.
Hanapepe Art Night every Friday Visit a variety of local art shops in downtown Hanapepe every Friday night. Enjoy live music and fabulous food at the Hanapepe Cafe.
Star Gazing The night sky above Kauai's West shore is the perfect place to view stars. Take a blanket across the street to the beach and lay back and let the constellations above put on a show for you. Kekaha has clear skies and very few city lights which allows for optimal viewing.
